Thanks for your quick response. I have been trying to sort out my Overbay family for some time and it has given me fits except for three of Gabriel Overbay’s children. Jesse is no exception. I have him in Gabriel’s household in 1860 and 1870. In 1880 there is a Jessie listed in the 1880 census, district 12 of Hawkins county in the household of William Jones. I think that William is Jessie’s half-brother. I think that Jessie’s mother was Elizabeth that married Gabriel in Johnson County, TN and she was married before to a Jones. A Allen Jones family looks promising as Elizabeth first husband but need some proof. The William Jones family was also listed in district 13. These are districts that I would expect Jessie to be in if living in Hawkins county.

I have two marriages of a Jessie that I can not explain at this time. One is in Hawkins county in 1874 and one Grainger county in 1893.

The 1900 Census in Knox County is the last bit of information, that I have on Jesse, Eva or William G. Overbay. This census did not list this as a second marriage but I looked at several pages and I saw no listings for a second for anyone. One question, do you have any other birth dates that is close to March 1897 for your William G. Overbay. I have not been able to find him in any census records or WWI registration cards.
