Hi,
I am hoping someone can shed some light on a puzzle I have found. I am trying to sort out my uncle's line. His mother was Cordia Bowlin who I found in the census of 1910 in Hancock county Tennessee. Cordia was called Cordie and she married John Dudley Woodard/Woodward. John Dudley Woodard is found in the census of Lee county Virginia
in 1910. In 1920, he and Cordie are married and still in Lee county Virginia and in 1930, they are in Claiborne county TN.
My uncle told me many of Cordie's siblings names as they were his aunts and uncles. But they are not listed as Bowlin's. Here is what I found:
Elvira Trent, census Hancock county TN 1910
Elvira Trent age 42 Widow
children
Kittie age 16 married a Collins
Etter or Etta age 14 married a Webb
Cordie age 12 married John Dudley Woodard
Homer age 10
Bonny age 8
Grant age 6
James Guy-age 5
Katie age 2 married a Prater
Edith under a year
Henry Bowlin is listed as a SERVANT age 80? This age cant be right. There is also another child named Cornie who married an Estes. William Henry Bowlin is the father of these children...so where is he? Who is the Henry living in this household?
My uncle remembers his granfather Henry Bowlin. My uncle was born in 1933. Elvira says she is a widow. I have seen a post where one of the children went by Trent or Bowlin..why? I found one entry on Rootsweb world connect for this family and the same man has posted on this forum but his email is not working. If Henry Bowling and Elvira Trent were married, why is she going by her maiden name in the census? Why are the children listed as Trents? In the 1910 census she is one door away from Madison Trent. I dont know who her parents are. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Tracy
