Adam,
Glad to finally hear from someone about the Finn & Rogers family. I grew up in Ellettsville & Beulah's daughter Minnie was in my grade & high school class & several years while in the Indiana Room at the Bloomington Public Library, Minnie's older sister (Delores?) came in trying to find some family history & as I had a lot more experience in doing genealogy, I told her I would try to help & through the years when I've seen her, have asked if she had found any new info. yet, & last time I seen her at her mother's funeral visitation at the House of Prayer, she had not. She said her mother was very secretive about her past the kids did not know practically anything about her or her husband's backgrounds, so I told Delores that when the kids went through Beulah's papers afterwards, that maybe they would find some info., but I haven't seen Delores since then, so I don't know if they did or not. Do you know?
I know when I looked at the early census records, I could not find anything about Beulah's or her husband's families either, as most people are listed in the census records.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Thank you for getting back with me. I am afraid that I can't be of much help. I was hoping that you would be. The only things I know for sure is Robert Rogers was not a white man, possibly black, but most likely an Indian/black mix. I do not know anything about Sadie Young. Grandma always told us that she was born in Tennessee, but I don't know what county or town.

Grandpa's (Charles Beckham Finn) family was supposed to have been from Kentucky, but again I don't know what county or town. Years ago when doing some research at the library at IU, there was some information that came up with Grandpa's birthdate, but the name was Clarence Vernon (Jack) Finn. Charles was not mentioned. Clarence did have a sister named Mary Elizabeth, which Grandma always said Minnie's sister Mary was named after.

As far as I know, there were no papers found in Grandma's things after her death.

Thank you again.
EM Miller

Adam,
So after Beulah died, they didn't even find her & Charles' marriage license?? Maybe she threw out everything before she died, as I said, Delores said her mother wouldn't tell her anything at all.
Do you have a current email address for Delores, Beulah's daughter? Without getting out my Finn file & I'm here at the Ellettsville Branch Library, I can't remember what Delores' last time was. I think it was Terrell wasn't it?
Greeneville, Tn. is in Greene Co.,Tn. & thats where Beulah was supposedly from, but can't remember without looking, as to what county in Ky. the Finns were from. I think I have it, but couldn't believe I couldn't find any of them in any census records. Its as if they were not home every time or were hiding when census taker came around every 10 yrs.
You'd think the census taker would have caught up with them sometime.

Thank you for taking the time to check your book. It may not make a difference, but I think the spelling of the last name is "rogers" and that Robert's wife's name was not Sarah at all, just Sadie or Sadia. Also remember being told as a young child that Grandma's family was from a small town at the base of the Smokey Mountains called Rodgerville or something similar to that. I have never been able to find anything at all on any of them.

Delores doesn't have email as far as I know. Her last name is Morgan. Are there any records there concerning Charles Beckham Finn's death? Maybe a death certificate would list the place where he was born?

Adam,
Rogersville, Tn. is in Hawkins Co., north of the Smokey Mt. pretty close to Ky./Va. border. I'll look at some census for there & see if there are any Rogers & I'll check for a death certificate here in Monroe Co.,In. for Charles B. Finn.
