I've been confused on this from the very start. Our family state that Jeremiah married Susan King but on Find a Grave, Susan is listed as Asbury's wife and she is buried in Tempy Hutchison's cemetery along with him, his wife and a baby Webster. Family members say that Susan and Jeremiah were divorced but I haven't found any information about that as yet.
I have a Jeremiah Hutchison married 13 Mar 1837 Cape Girardeau Co., MO to Elizabeth Penrod. I also have a Jeremiah married to Mary Jane Williams 7 Nov 1867 Davies, Co., MO.
In 1840 Casey, KY census, Jeremiah is also listed.
1900 Jasper Township, Ozark Co., Mo Susan is listed with her son, Templeton as:
110/111 Hutchison, T.J. Head May 1830 70 yrs. marr. 35 yrs.
Elizabeth wife Oct 1832 68 yrs. marr. 35 yrs.
Mohn, Edward servant
Ledbetter, Matilda servant
Hutchison, Susan mother (can't read the month) 1780 120 yrs. (which there is no way as she died according to her headstone in 1899).

I think there was more than one Jeremiah in this family, has to be with the amount of Jeremiah's that are coming up.

This is a case of brothers marrying sisters. Susan Harrell married Jacob Norton. If anyone is related to either of these families I look forwarded to hearing from you. Hopefully, you're still out there, Sandy and Tineanddale.

Marriage Record Look Up

Seeking marriage record for James M. Hume and Eliza Kitts married 10 October 1840. James was appoximately 18 years old. Eliza' may have been married before. Some sources list her as Eliza Warrick Kitts. I am hoping the marriage record lists James' parents.

Thank you for any assistance.

Re: Beckham's & Greenlees in Grainger County, TN

Thanks for the reply.
Lewis did not get married until he was 50 years old. He married a much younger Martha Brabston. They had three children, Amon (known as Bud), Batchea (known as Batch) and Susie. Martha and Susie died shortly after Susie was born. They are all buried in the Beckham family cemetery.
Lewis was a millwright and Martha's father was a "master smith". They probably worked together. I still have some of Lewis's tools. My first cousin has a copy of Lewis's diary that he kept after becoming a single father, but I have not seen it. My father spent a lot of time with Bud, his grandfather.
Are you sure about Elijah Junior & Senior? My information is that Elijah was the son of James. He and his wife, Jane, moved to Grainger county in the early 1820's. James and two of his brothers were in the Revolutionary war. They received land in Tennessee. I have a copy of James' pension application.
In the 1850 census there is a Preston Beckham. Circumstantial evidence suggests that he and his wife were freed by Elijah because of the names of their children. Elijah and Jane were still alive for the 1860 census.
Where did you get the information about Lewis being in Granger county in 1930? Is it on the Census form?

Shields Private Cemetery reinterrments

Hello, can anyone tell me where the Shields Private Cemetery is located? Is this the same as the Shields Cemetery as I know that location.
I have an ancestors (PASCHALs' and possibly HUGHES) who are now buried in the Holston Church Cemetery, according to "Grainger County, TN, Cemetery Records Vol. II". It also notes that they were removed from the Shields Private Cemetery and reinterred at Holston and there are also 164 unknown graves.
Why were the remaines moved? Is there now any information on the 164 unknown graves? Is the Shields Private Cemetery the same as the Shields Cemetery?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
John Hughes
