Noticed you're researching the Dodsons. My ancestor Thomas Vittetoe married Susannah Dodson in Grainger Co. Is your Pearl Dodson of the same line? Betty

I'm not real sure, but has great possibilities.
I have: Pearl Dotson's father is Samuel F. Dotson. His father is William B. Dotson, Williams wife is Frances Vittatoe. Williams father is Joel Dotson, but then Joels father is Samuel DODSON Jr. Samuels wife is Mary Polly DALTON.
Do you have any connections here? I would like more info than I have. Thank you Sonya Wood

I'm looking for information about the older children of Joel Dodson.

According to the 1830 census, there were several, including 2 boys. Other researchers have Mary b. 1823 as the earliest known child. I'm trying to find proof that my gg-grandfather, John Dodson, born in Grainger Co. in 1820
is one of the older children of Joel Dodson b. 1793 in Va. His father was Samuel b. 1774 in Va.

Joel married Sarah Acuff in Grainger Co. in 1812. Sarah's brother, Charles M. Acuff signed on the marriage bond for John Dodson and Martha (Patsy) Grady in 1843 in Grainger Co.

I don't think I have the parents/siblings of Rutha, but I do have info on her marriage to Capt Jarvis Jackson "Jack" J.J. Harrell. She was born 1822 md 1/31/1843 and d 8/26/1898. She and J. J. had 11 children: Sephronia abt 1844, Sarah 1846, Calvin Scott 11/1847-11/1910, J. K., Wm, Hamilton, Matilda, Lottie, Louisa, Jackson and Etta

Calvin md Martha Frye 2/1868 had 13 c's: Mary Victoria who drown in river at abt 14 months old, John, Orville, Tiny Nora, Minnnie, Jackson, Effie, Burl, Nancy, Lillie, Parlin, Laura, ?

Parlin, s/o/Calvin b 3/28/1885 - 5/24/1960 was a teacher in Grainger Co. md Frances McGinnis on 7/23/1911 and their 8 cs were Beutra, Odessa, Jim Scott, Blake, Horace, Gale, Bill, and Reva who md ? Smith.

James Jarvis was s/o William and Donnie Harem Harrell, from NC, bro to Roadman (my line),Sallie md James Acuff, Perry md Louisa Dotson (probably sister to Rutha), Calvin, William. Wm b Orange Co, NC in 1784 and came to Grainger Co 1811, fought in War of 1812we

All the children of William Harrell lived in Grainger Co with the exception of Capt. Jack. Roadman and Jack were in Mexican War and Roadman, Jack and Perry were Confederate soldiers.

Perry 1820 and Louisa Dotson 1824 had Dicey 1841, Sally 1843, Samuel 1845 in the UC 1850 census

Drury Harrell, bro to William had Capt Peter (Federal Soldier) Gus (stabbed in Al), Jacob, John William, Dick, Daniel, Elizabeth md John Rosenbalm and Clarissa md Jesiah Panel Carter This family moved to Alabama

My line is William - Donnie Harem Herrill, Roadman - Martha Cardwell Harrell, William David and Saphire Isabelle Harrell Vittetoe, Reuben - Mamie Monroe Vittetoe, Fred - Blanche Vittetoe Capps then me

I have very little on the Dodsons, but think they came to Tn from KY; I have a Thomas Vittetoe, son of Wm H. b about 1825 md to a Mary A. Dodson, born abt 1817, md 1846; also a Wm Dodson md to a Frances Vittetoe 12/23/1847; both marriages were in Grainger Co and the info was taken from Grainger Co Marriage book. I haven't done any work on the Dodson's, as I have not connected my Vittetoe line to Thomas and Susan, although I'm sure they are related. Only 8 Vittetoe families in that area in 1850, so I know they've got to be at least cousins if not brothers, and probably sons of Thomas.

I have info on the line of Steven Stokley Vittetoe, s/o Thomas and Susannah Dodson Vittetoe, think they were md in Pulaski, KY in 2/1812; they are in Grainger Co in the 1850 census

There are quite a few Vittetoe-Acuff marriages as well in Grainger, Union County. If you want any information on them be glad to share. Hope this is of use to you. Would you please share any Vittetoe info you have with me?

Drury Harrell is my great-great-grandfather Dick is my great-grandfather

Hi, my name is Lucille Ester Harrell and I was going through some of the queries and found your reference about Drury Harrell which was a brother to William. My great-grandfather was James E. Harrell (nickname Dick). All of your names match for Drury. My grandfather was James Ervin Harrell (nickname Jim). Jim married three different times and sired 18 children. My dad, Robert Jennings Harrell, is the youngest child of the 18. Jim was 68 years old when my dad was born. By the way, Dick was a sergeant in Company G of the 12th Tennessee Calvary (Union). His description on his Calvary paper is that he had red hair, blue eyes, and was 5'10". My cousin Charles did some of the geneology for this family and the earliest that he got was to Drury. Do you have any further information. Send me your address and I will send the geneology information that I have. Thank you.
