I would like to be in contact with anyone who descends from the Isaac and Fanny Dyer family who lived in Grainger Co. TN. I have been told that Isaac Dyer died in Grainger Co. on 7 Jul 1836 and Fanny died in Oct 1838. Their children were Cynthia who married William Wyrick, Elizabeth who married Elijah Arnwine, Anna Dyer who married William Wyrick, Nancy Dyer who married John Arnwine, Catherine Dyer who married Nathan D. McHurst, Hampton Dyer who married Louisa Dale, Pleasant Dyer who married Margaret Lain/Lane, Robert Dyer who married Susanna Dale, Isaac Dyer who married Margaret J.???? and George Dyer who married Olley Williams. I descend from Pleasant Dyer who moved to Douglas County, MO and is buried there.

Did any of your Dyers move to Union Co. TN? I am looking for a William Dyer who married Martha Warwick in 1872 in Union Co. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, some of the children of Isaac and Fanny Dyer did move to Union Co. TN. However, I do not have a William Dyer, but there are so many Dyers that he is probably some of my relation. I haven't gotten much information on this family because my ancestor, Pleasant Dyer, son of Isaac and Fanny Dyer, moved to Douglas Co. MO. Some of the other children of Pleasant also moved to MO. I do have the Union County marriage records and my records say that there was "no return" on the marriage application for Wiliam Dyer and Martha Warwick. As a genealogist, my understanding of that statement is that the marriage did not take place. The application was made 21 Oct 1872. Perhaps they did marry later or perhaps that statement is an error. I see a William Dyer listed as marrying on 8 Apr 1898 to a Melvina Mashburn. The children of Isaac and Fanny Dyer were Cynthia m. William Wyrick, Elizabeth m. Elijah Arnwine, Anna m. William Wyrick, Nancy m. John Arnwine, Catherine m. Nathan McHurst, Hampton m. Louisa Dale, Pleasant m. Margaaret Lane/Lain, Robert m. Susanna Dale, Isaac m. Margaret ? and George m. Olley Williams. I don't know whether this is of any help to you. I have put my queries out to hopefully find some assistance with putting this family together. I understand that Grainger and Union counties were just full of Dyer families so it is terribly confusing to put them together. I would like to hear back from you. Thank you for your quick response. I do not know for sure they did marry. I haven't found a marriage certificate. I do know the family bible names them as the parents of Mary Dyer Caldwell, Claude, Columbus, Blaine, Nora, Garfield and I think 2 other girls. Mary is my ggrandmother. Hopefully we can connect. Helen,
I hope you can help me. I am looking into Daniel Arnwine who moved to Claiborne Co. TN from NC abt. 1810. The info I have on three of his children is as follows:

John, married a Dyer
William, married a Dyer
Elijah, married Betsey

They had a sister, Rose Ann, who married Hugh Farmer -- my husband's ggg-grandparents. Are these your Dyers? Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Yvette

I just sent a post to another researcher on this family. I have the Grainger Co 1836 Tax Lists and the Isaac/Fanny entry is as follows:
District No. 14 - 1836 - John Hills, Esqr.
Fanny Dyer, adm't
Isaac Dyer
There are 12 other Dyer entries, along with my Rookards, Norris, and Satturfields, (as written).
The notation of Fanny as "adminstrator" tells me that Isaac did in fact die in 1836.

I'm working specifically with the Robert Dyer that married Susan/Susanna Dale. Do you have any information about the marriage or their children or parents? I had not located Robert's parentage until seeing this post. ~Liz

Robert Dyer and Susanna (Susan) Dale had several children including a son Leander Dyer who was married twice, Nancy Corum and Viola Missouri Hill. My great-grandmother was Nancy and my "cousin" who is doing family genealogy with me is the great-granddaughter of the second marriage to Viola. We have hit a roadblock in gathering any family history on Susanna (father, mother, etc).
