I'am looking for information on my 4th great-grandparents Lewis Nelson Brown & Cassandra Harwell. They're buried in the Brown/Baugh Cemetery in Giles Co., although I'm not sure when they arrived in the area. Lewis died in 1833 and Cassandra died in 1834.
It may be possible that they were on the 1830 census---if anyone can check this for me I would be greatful. Any information would help. Thank you so much.

Denise, I am the editor of The Harwell Researcher and have lots of information on Cassandra Harwell and some on the Brown family but mostly on the Harwell line. Pls. email. My computer is down at the moment but will be up and running soon. You just missed a big reunion of all Harwells in Houston, TX.

I saw your entries on the Harwells but could find nothing on the Giles County Harwells in my family tree. Two of my Grandmother Norwood's sisters married Harwells. Emma Dora Norwood married John Fisher Harwell about 1890, after the death of his wife Miranda A. Harwell. Cordelia Mason Norwood married G.G. "Gus" Harwell on 6 Sep 1903. I see that one of your Harwells lived at Choates Creek. My Great Grandfather Samuel H. Anderson 1842 - 1900 lived in that area and is buried at Choates Creek Cemetery.

I just checked the 1830 Federal Census. There is one Lewis H. Brown in Giles Co., TN; however, the ages don't seem to match Lewis Nelson Brown.

You might on onto the GenWeb Tennessee site/Giles Co. and search for the following: A Brief Sketch of the Settlement and Early History of Giles County Tennessee by James McCallum 1876, published by The Pulaski Citizen in 1928. It appears that Lewis N. Brown arrived in the area about 1808-1809. My line is Lewis' sister Frances Brown born 1761. Hope this helps you. Lynette
