Mark, i am trying to trace family history and came across your note regarding the Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. My name is pauline mcnair and i am trying to find anything regarding the Mc Nair family. I have yet to prove it but, recently got the name Mahala Norton who was a full blood cherokee. my family george dean mcnair all lived in elizabeth, newjersey for at least 3 generations,. i would appreciate any thing you could tell me. i would also like to know the location of the cemetery since i have been in tennesse before and hope to visit again. pauline

I'm stuck on my line in Gibson Co. for a Charles Hammonds born 9 Nov 1889 in Medina, Gibson, TN. Does this ring any bells in your Hammonds line? Supposedly his father's name is also Charles Hammonds, but I have no information on him.

The name Charles Hammonds is a name that runs in our family, but I can't place your Charles Hammonds, b. 1889. Would you have any more info on him? Perhaps his wife's name? In my family, there is a Charles Hammonds, b. 1832, who had a son, Charles Pinkney Hammonds, b. 1866. From what I know about him, Pinkney Hammonds never married. There is a good chance that your Charles Hammonds ties into our family somehow. Please let me hear from you again.

I have come across the name "Charlie Hammonds" in my research on the Cunningham and Crafton names in TN. I have a friend that knows more about him as she is up to speed on the Crafton name, where Charlie's name appears. They lived in or near Somerville, TN about 1900-30.

I also descend from Jesse & Mourning Hammonds. These are my grt-grt-grandparents (I think. I would have to recheck the grt grt part) . I believe they were my grandmothers' grandparents. My grandmother was Ona Hammonds she married Herman Terry . they were from Humboldt, TN. What kind of info do you need, I will try and help.
