I am researching Reuben GUNN that I believe died in Dickson County, TN about 1822. His first wife Mary GUNN also died there about 1816 and possibly his second wife Nancy GUNN also. Can anyone tell me how I might find where they are buried? I would like to plan a trip to Dickson County to visit the cemetery. Thanks for anyone's help. D.L. James

I found Mr Gunn that you refer to. If you would like to email me at bresebring@sbcglobal.net I would be happy to see if I could find a burial place. It's 4:53 am EST and I really need some sleep right how.

Reuben Gunn is buried in Dickson County, on a hillside in what was a "lost" gravesite until a developer began bulldozing a few years ago and found the stones. Abb Lynn Gunn, the Gunn Clan genealogist for America, is also a descendant of Reuben's, and is working to have the graves restored and marked. (The developer stopped work in that area.) The graves are very difficult to find without someone to lead you there, since they are essentially in a woods.

There are plans for a group of Gunns to meet in TN this spring, and do research, as well as determine cost and how to fundraise to mark and restore graves. DAR might be able to help, since he is a DAR patriot. For more info, you might want to contact Abb Lynn Gunn. Contact me for his email.

By the way, there is MUCH misinformation about Reuben floating around the Internet. I can help with some, and Abb is a fine, scholarly resource.

As with all genealogy, don't believe ANYTHING you see on the internet, until you check it out and have a source. The internet is a bulletin board, not an enyclopedia, and anybody can post anything!

If you are referring to Rev. A. S. GUNN that died October 24, 1886 and is buried in the Gunn Cemetery in Morgan County, Illinos, I believe his first name is Alexander.

Reuben is indeed buried in Tennessee. The one buried with James (my ggg grandfather)and John is a grandson of the first Reuben. I was just at the Gunn cemetary in Morgan County, IL., last year and live within an hour of it.

I am planning a trip to Tennessee this year to see the grave of Reuben, but the location is known to my Cousin Abb Gunn from Marietta, GA. He is the Clan Gunn Genealogist. Are you a Reuben descendant?
