I have also been trying to find out more about the Jesse Turner that lived in Campbell Co., TN. The 1850 and 1860 has census his wife listed as "Elizabeth." Jesse is not in the 1870, or later, but Elizabeth can be found as the head of the house or living with a child's family later for some time later .. she applied for and received a 'mother's pension' for her son Rufus who served in the Civil War. No mention of her maiden name was in her appliation however.

My wife is a direct descendent of their son John A. Turner and Mary/Polly Pierce through their son James Harvey Turner and his first wife Anna Pebley .. and then through their oldest daughter Sarah [wife of Bradford Lafayette Ellison].
