Birthdate: from gravestone 1816 and census age 44(1860) = b.1815/16.

Birthplace: from census TN and presumed from bios. of brothers in SKETCHES.

Marriage: Campbell Co., TN Marriage records.

Death: from gravestone.

Buried: from A PROMISE OFGOOD THINGS by Edith W. Hutton: born 1816 married 16 Sep 1850 Vally BOWLING (Vallentine) died 26 May 1884 buried Jacksboro Cemetery, Jacksboro, Campbell Co., TN. This gravestone death date differs from the death date quoted in TN COUSINS by Ray S. Worth which gives b. 1816 d. 26 May 1888. My experience is that TN COUSINS has many errors while Edith W. Hutton works very diligently to verify her work.

Interested in information about Valentine Bowling. I have a Valentine Braswell (Brazel, Brazle, etc.) who I "supspect" may have married a daughter of Benjamin Bowling. His daughter Nancy named a son Bowling. His son named twins Valentine and Benjamin.

The 1782 Wilkes Co., NC Tax list includes a Benjamin Bowling and Valentine Braswell's father & brother-in-law. Two of Valentine's siblings were married in Wilkes Co. in 1784. An 1805 Anderson Co.,, TN petition was signed by Benjamin Bowling, Joel Bowling, Joseph Bowling and Larkin Bowling, as well as William Brazle (Valentine Brazle's brother who hadn't left for Illinois as Valentine had). The 1818 and 1820 Census for Bond County, Illinois has Benjamin Bowling and Valentine Brazel's family.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have no information on the Bowling family, but would be interested in information about the Brazle (Braswell,Brazil, etc.) family. My Great Grandfather was Joseph Brazle, and his father's name was Benjamin. We know this because my uncle has discharge papers from the Civil War for a Benjamin Brazle. When I looked him up on the Civil War rooster from Illinois there were two Brazles (spelled Brazil on the rooster) There was Benjamin and Valentine. They enlisted on the same day and were mustered out on the same day. However I can not prove that this is relation, because my uncle misplaced the discharge papers and can't find them. For years I have not been able to find anything on the Brazle's, Then I found census records that say Benjamin was married to Maria, and had two sons, Daniel and Joseph T. Can't prove that Joseph is my Great Grandfaather, and can't prove that Benjamin and Valentine are related either. Would appreciate any help I can get. I do know that Joseph married Anna (Anne) Jones. Thank you for any info. VVickie Kuehn
