I am also looking for a John/Jonathan Harris. I found info on the internet that a John was listed on an 1802 Tax List for Blount Co TN and also found the same info about being a justice of the peace. But have hit a brick wall. A visit to the county courthouse is necessary to dig up more info.

Jonathan had at least 2 sons, Adlai and Edwin, who married 2 Gracey girls ( not sure is sisters). Adlai married in Blount Co TN in 1817 and Edwin married in Bond Co IL in 1818. The Harris and Gracey families appeared to have traveled west together and settled in Madison and Bond counties in IL. These two brothers later left Illinois and moved south to Fayette AL by the 1830s.
