Nimrod Williams and his wife Nancy moved over to Sevier County, and are shown there in the 1870 census, Fair Garden District. He is 75 years old, Nancy is 37. Nimrod and Nancy had four children, all whom were born in NC, except Permenes. Nimrod brought his family across the mountains to escape Sherman's Army. Nimrod "disappeared" sometime after 1870. Family legend has it that he left to go to the saw mill, and never returned. His parentage is unknown by this writer. He was born in Virginia or North Carolina. After marrying, he apparently went back to North Carolina, returning during the Civil War. Nancy was a member of Jones Chapel Church, and died in 1892; her death is documented in the Church minutes. I presume she is buried at Jones Chapel or Bethel, but no grave has been found.
