The Daniel Rathbone you are looking for and who was in the 1880 Haywood Co NC census, Fines Creek, #95, was a son of Purnel Rathbone, Sr. and Mary Pestal. Daniel was listed with his brothers and sisters in the 1887 estate record of his half-brother William Rathbone. Using this estate record, Purnel's children can be documented. Daniel was born about 1820 and died about 1890. He married Nancy Carver 21 Dec 1841 in Haywood Co. Daniel and Nancy appeared in the Haywood census records of 1850 #186, 1860 Crabtree Twp #323, and 1870 Fines Creek #152. Apparently Nancy died between 1870-1880, as Daniel was in the 1880 census without her. Hope this helps.
