PEARL VAN ASPEREN
Winner- Pearl Van Asperen, 90, formerly of Avon, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at the Winner Nursing Home in Winner. Pearl Anna Pfaltzgraff was born Nov. 18, 1909, on a farm south of Avon. She attended rural Avon schools, then worked with her family and in the area as a hired girl.
She married Andy Van Asperen on March 9, 1938. They lived in Wagner and Austin, MN., before settling in Avon. They lived in the same house in the town for 52 years. She kept books for her husband's business, the Avon Well Company. Her husband died in 1984. She lived in Avon until becoming a resident at Winner Nursing Home in 1998.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, the Women's Organization and the Avon Flower Club.
Survivors include a son Gary of South Bend, Ind.; a daughter, Kay Berg of Winner; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four sisters-in-law: Sarah Raabe, Mag Van Asperen, Virginia Kodes, and Sally Van Asperen; two brothers-in-law: Buster and Abe; and many nieces and nephews.
Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon with burial in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon.
