Valerie,
1. Here is information on the Research Member Card issued by the South Dakota Genealogy Society ($5.00):
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sdgs/membership/membership...2. Have you looked up your names on
www.familysearch.org? A free resource from the LDS church. Some German records are also available.
If you live near Huron, have you been to the:
3. Huron Public Library
--used the Ancestry Library Edition (less comprehensive than subscription version)? HPL has WiFi, otherwise you are limited to 45 minutes/day on the library computers. You do need a library card ($20/year) to use library computers.
--a South Dakota library card also gets you access to Heritage Quest and images of many US censuses.
--checked the card index (South Dakota Room) for the Mildred McEWEN manuscripts?
--checked the newspaper card index (South Dakota Room) "Index to selected South Dakota items in the local newspaper from 21 Jul 1942 to 2 Aug 1970."
While you are at the library, look for the WOLSEY CENTENNIAL 1983 book. Henry & son August KAHRE are written up on page 22, columns 1 & 2. This article states "They had eight children, three of which died when they were young."
In A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF BEADLE COUNTY, see page 137, columns 2 & 3.
Ever visited the Dakotaland Museum in Huron?
