I am the granddaughter of the Rev Archie Ware of Calhoun Falls, SC. One of his daughters, my mother, Fannie Lou Ware married Lieutenant Bryant of SC. My grandfather was indeed attacked and left for dead by the side of the road, I believe in 1948! He was found by Dr. Ward and was taken to the hospital and survived with multiple stab wounds. My mother and other family members assisted my grandfather to relocate to Buffalo, NY where my parents the Bryants, his sons, Moses, Archie ( and later, Calvin) also lived with other relatives and friends from SC. The Rev. Archie Ware started a new church in Buffalo NY, called The Watson Street Baptist Church. He later relocated to Evanston, Illinois to join his wife, Georgia Covington Ware and daughters Loree and Ethel where he was very active until his death. He was a tremendous inspiration as a preacher, farmer, carpenter, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
