Classification: Query
Surnames: Ashim, Jacobi
Simeon Ashim (b. 1823, Posen Germany?) and his family was counted in the 1850 Census (page 37b. His wife Matilida Adelaide (maiden name-Jacobi, b. 1830, Charleston? SC), son Leopold (b. 1848 d. 1852 or 1857) and sister in law(?) Syurgians(?) Jacobi (b. 1834) were listed in his household. I know that they went west during the Civil War (1862-64) settling in San Francisco. According to family lore, Simeon fought on the confederate side before they went west.
I am looking for information regarding Simeon's service during the Civil War (1861 - 1863?), any information regarding Simeon's family (siblings, parents, immigration info), Matilda's family (Jacobi), and Syurgians(?) Jacobi what happened to her (no record of her in San Francisco). With the Jacobi family I am unsure where they are from and whether the parents were citizens or not.
Any information would be helpful.
