Hello Tammy--I noted your offer to help out those of us from afar with connections to your area. I have the following info I've gleaned so far on BRODIE Family from SCDA&H in your area. Could you perhaps give me a lead from records or published materials of your area to find more info on them?

1.John Brodie 13 Mar 1773: Plat for 600 ac Berkley Co (I see its spelled also Berkeley) (this would have been the early Royal Berkley Co that stretched from the coast to present day NC border and took in area now Spartenburg, Union & locale clear to Charleston).
2.John Brodie 1774: lease & release to David BATY.
3.John Brodie 7 May 1774: 600 ac land grant Berkley Co.
4.John Brodie 14 Sep 1774: 600 ac memorial on PACOLET RIVER, Berkley Co.
5.John Brodie 1775: lease and release to David Baty.
= 3 deals for 1,800 ac; and "lease release"--sounds like he may have been an absentee landowner who leased out.
Can you look in a couple of likely references to see if further info on BRODIE & connections may be available in your area? And if nothing shows up, perhaps you could point me in a likely direction based on your experience?

Here is another interesting bit of Brodie info further to the southeast in SC for your info: I found in VA & NC references that the following Brodie family has ties to SC: John Brodie(1)m.1722 Hampton VA Martha SCLATER; their son James(2) has son Alexander(3); a church record & a will of James Brodie(4) d.1782 York Co VA shows he is likely the son of Alexander(3) who m.__?__ of SC; James Brodie(4) left 1/2 of his property in SC to sister Charlotte Brodie & 1/2 to relation John Sclater & his 2 sons Richard & John Sclater. Now here is the interesting part: VA State Library record of article in Martinsburg Gazette Newspaper shows Charlotte Brodie m.1811 Williamsboro NC to Major Francis SMITH & the record states: "This marriage agreed upon 31 years ago at Camden SC, but the war separated them and each had thought the other dead until they met accidentally recently."
Quite romantic! So, I'm also on a search for this other Brodie Bunch of Camden SC ca1780--I think they were located on Town Creek just south of town of Camden, but until I find differently, I believe that John Brodie above is also tied in with them.

Perhaps something you can find in records about Pacolet & John Brodie will help in some way. Thanks for volunteering!
