We still might have a connection. Some of the Moore, Wilbanks, and Ramey families only had opportunities to marry people in the area they lived - they met at the local Long Creek area churches, schools and social events.

I'm still digging around in my files to see what else I might find.
Hi again, I am a bit confused so I am going to have to dig a little more if we are talking about the same Evie married to John E. Moore and from your information also James Ramey.

I looked at her obituary and she as a Moore until her death and I do have a Luther listed as her son with John Enoch Moore. The Evie that I have married to John E. Moore also had the following children:

George Ansel
Edd married Dorothy Rholetter
Julius
Luther Vernon b. abt 1918
Laura Pauline "Polly" married Furman Matheson
Charlotte married Cecil Phillips
Mae

I am going to email the .jpg file of her obit to you in a few minutes.
I think I have one or two photos - I will email you the .jpg. She was a good friend of my Grandmother Alma Cobb in Long Creek.

From what I have learned so far, her parents were George and Laura Wilbanks. I have not spent very much time on her line since her husband's family (John E. Moore) was from my Moore line.

George was born Feb. 1850
The census information that I found on ancestry.com shows Eva (Evie) with her family and a servant John Moore living with them. I had thought that this is the same John Moore that married her however the birth information for John E. Moore and this one do not match up.

CENSUS

1900 Census, Chattooga Township, Oconee Co., SC
George Wilbanks (50) b. Feb. 1850 - married 28 years
wife: Laura (51) b. Oct. 1848 - 11 children born - 11 children still living
dau: Mary E. (32) b. Aug. 1877
son: Edward (18) b. May 1882
dau: Eva (18) b. May 1882
son: John (14) b. May 1886
son: Elijah (16) b. April 1884
son: Jefferson (11) b. Mar 1889
son: Crate (7) b. Sept 1892
Living in same household - servant John Moore (21) b. Oct. 1878

I am glad to make a connection with you. I will email you later this weekend if I can. Gail
My email is: mycobbfamily@comcast.net

I am sorry but I don't have any information on Patrick Sanders, other than he is the father of Elisha Sanders (born about 1796) and married to Prudence Lowe.

Elisha and Prudence had several children, one, Elijah Sanders, married Catherine Butler about 1856 and had one son, Samuel Lindsey Sanders. It is believed that Catherine died either in the birth of this child or the next one. If it was a second child, then it did not survive.

Samuel married Mahulda Lowe. Jesse>Prudence>Elijah>Samuel..and Jesse>Abraham>Gideon>Mahulda
Samuel and Mahulda had several children: one was Isaiah Sylvannus and he married my grandmother's sister, Ola C. Norton.

This is why I am doing the Sanders research, because it is lateral to my lines.

Linda Maxwell-Fisher

I am looking for more info about my dad's great grandfather, John Curtis Hughes. He was born in Pickens Country, but died in Seneca. His death certificate says he was buried at "Ebenezer?" He was married to Alice Hunnicut, who was born and died in Oconee County. Any info would be appreciated. I am at a dead end.

Hi. I too am looking for info about John Curtis Hughes and Alice Hunnicut. My father was Samuel Clyde Hughes of Pickens, and his father was Elzie W. Hughes, whose parents were Sam and Emma. I found John Curtis Hughes' death certificate. There listed by his son, Joe, are his parents' names, Samuel Hughes and Craytie Holder. I have no idea if the spellings are correct. The place of birth for these two were listed as unknown. So I am at a dead end here. If you find out anymore, please let me know. Thank you.

James Marion and Nacey Crowe Bell was the parents of Nacey Bell White and Ferber Allen Bell. James Marion had another son named Joseph (J.E) who had another mother her name was Vilantie J. James Marion later married Jane. James Marion, Jane, Nancey Bell, Logan White and a couple of Nancey and Logans children (I know of atleast one of them) are buried at Church of God #2 off Hwy 11 near Tammassee-Salem. Ferber Allen Bell married Tabathia Dotson from Mountain City GA. Joseph moved to VA, Ferber stayed in Mountain City and I believe Nancey Bell White moved to Walhalla SC. Ferber Allen is my great grandfather.

Smith Watkins is near Five Forks. At Five Forks turn on to Stribbling Shoals Rd. Go about 2 miles. You will see Marble Branch Trail on your left. Its a little gravel road. Go down Marble Branch for about a mile and It will be on your right on a hill. You can see George Watkins headstone from the gravel road. Him and John Smith (my 3 great grandfather) are the only marked graves. There are about 30 unmarked graves with a blank head and foot stone at each. Most are children that died during the 1918-1919 flu epidemic. You will see signs saying private property keep out on Marble Branch Rd but as long as you just stay on the road or at the cem you will be ok. If you have anymore questions email me at jls1274@yahoo.com

Thanks for the info; I have emailed him

Apparently James Davis [est 1813] and Rebecca Davis [est 1819] are his parents from the first post but William moved to GA in the late 1800s. I know the family after that in Cobb County and have visited his grave and others often as a child.

I think the Davis line was very healthy and proflific with all the Davis' in the South we must all have some relationship. I know in my family 11-12 kids was pretty much the norm and they were living long even back then.

I am researching my Craig Family tree in Oconee County.
William G Craig on the census says he was born 1850-1860 in Alabama. He married Evelina Cherry of Walhalla, Oconee County, SC in between 1880 and 1900. First seen on the 1900 census, had several children at that time. In total, there were 13 Children. I was told that Evelina Cherry had a brother named Mack Cherry and he married Daisy -(nee). I was not able to find William G. Craig's death certificate but I know he died between 1910-1920. Any information on the Cherry or William G. Craig would be great. Especially his death certificate, as I would hope it has inforamtion about his parents etc.

Looking for information on the Hunnicutt Burying Ground located in Salem S.C.. I have information it is on Rt. 2 in the Stamp Creek Community which is a private Community. I have family buried at this location and need to know if it is a cemetery with markers or no markers. Also, I would like to know if the Chimney is still standing in the private gated community of Keowee Estates. My family at one time owned the land that Keowee Estates sits on and the chimney was the home of Jeffery Beck Jr. who is buried in the Stamp Creek Church Cemetery. He was first buried on his plantation near the river but when a dam was built the grave was moved to the Church Cemetery. Are all of the locations the same place? Please help me find out as I plan on taking a trip there soon. Thanks.

Rick Beck
Atoka Tennessee

Please e-mail me at Irwybound@aol.com & reference Burying Ground
