I am too a relative of Jacob Kynerd (Kinard)through his daughter Mary Ann Kynerd, her daughter Martha Permelia Smith Sharp, her daughter Bertha Amelia Sharp, and her daughter Ethel Sharp who is my paternal grandmother.
My paternal relatives on Ethel Sharp's side were from Neshoba County, MS - Philadelphia, MS to be exact.
I found the attached information about Jacob Kynerd from Jacob Smith, the brother of Martha Permelia Smith Sharp and son of George Rayford Smith. At age 87, in 1935, he gave an account of his relatives to the Neshoba Democrat, a local paper. He said that "his maternal grandfather Jacob Kinard and wife were born in SC. The father of grandfather Kinard was in the Revolutionary War and died during the time of it. Grandmother Kinard also died during that war, and gradfather Kinard was raised an orphan by a man by the name of Taylor. Jacob Kinard married Rosanna Taylor about 1780 and were parents of 11 children, 7 of whom lived to be grown."
He goes on the talk about the "old country" which I am not certain where he means because in the next line he mentions Dutch Bible and then mentions Irishman. So if any of you know the answer to that, please let me know as well.
I am also trying to figure out who the birth parents of Jacob Kynerd were and if the man by the name of Taylor was in face Aaron Taylor, the father of his wife. Some people on here have John Kinard Jr from Johannes Kinard from Michel Keinat as the biological progression but that does not allow for the story that Jacob Smith tells in the newspaper.
Also, can anyone explain to me, as I am literally 2 days old at this, how to provide proof that you are a Daughter of the Confederacy or a Daughter of the American Revolution? Is it as simple as tracing our ancestry back to Aaron Taylor or Jacob Kynerd (or his father?)? Or for the confederacy - to GR Smith?
I also am very interested in this book by Dan Kinard. If in fact Jacob Kynerd (Kinard) was born of German patronage - then is it possible that John Kinard Jr of Johannes Keinat(Kinard) is in fact the father?
Anyone know any of this? I am very confused....
