Jacob DELLECHAUX arrived in 96 District (now McCormick Co.) in 1768. He was a blacksmith and joined the New Bordeaux Community, having come from London. His British wife was Sarah Elizabeth ROBERSON (the widow BRITT), who had a son named Charles BRITT. Their son James DILLASHAW was baptized in 1766 in London. Jacob was born Jaques Francois DELLECHAUX, also baptized in London in 1745.

His father was Jean Nicolas DELACHAUX born in Gilly, Canton Vaud, Switzerland in 1714 (also a blacksmith), married to Jeanne Francoise LOUP.

The father of Jean Nicolas DELACHAUX was Jean Etienne DELACHAUX born 1681 in Gilly, Canton Vaud, Switzerland, married Pernette ROLAZ.

Jean Jaques DELACHAUX and Danielle DELAPERRANJA of Gilly, Canton Vaud, Switzerland were the parents of Jean Etienne DELACHAUX.

Gilly was in Canton Berne (now Canton Vaud), Switzerland in the 1700's. It is along the banks of Lake Geneva between Lausanne and Geneva, in the vineyard country. Members of this branch of DELACHAUX went also to Nova Scotia. They seem to have been Huguenots.

I am doing an essay @ school. I would like to know about my family history. Also, I would like to know the meaning of "Dilleshaw." I live in Calhoun Falls, SC. My grandfather was Mike Dilleshaw. He died on the chain-gang when my dad was three yrs. old. I, or any of my family, never knew any other Dilleshaws, so I would like to know where my roots came from. For reference, I was born 3/25/82, in Greenwood. My full name is James Michael Dilleshaw II. Any information is appreciated.

Hello, I notice that it's been a long time since you left a link about the family ancestry stuff but I've been trying to trace back my fathers and as far as I've gotten is Walter E. Delashaw and was interested in finding out any information you may have on the family tree of Delashaws. It seems as though there have been a lot of spelling changes over time and there are a lot of discrapincies in the lineage above Walter E. but everything seems to tie into a Delachaux arriving in South Carolina.
