In the 1840 census of
Laurens Co., SC, the only males in the 20-25 yr-old category in
SAXON households that I haven't identified are one in the hh of Joshua
SAXON and wife Eliza
Amelia KERNS (Joshua was a son of Capt. Lewis
SAXON and wife Sarah ALLEN); and another in the household of Sarah
SAXON (b. ca 1785), whom I've never been able to identify, but who may be the mother/grandmother of Elizabeth (1805), Lewis B. (1807), Sarah (1820),
Jackson (1826), Wesley (1829), and Julius/Jane (1835), based on proximity among all these in census records.
In 1850
Laurens Co., P. A. SAXON (on page 273) appears closest in the census records to John F. SAXON (on page 275 w/
KERNS family), who was a son of Joshua
SAXON and Eliza
Amelia KERNS (who appeared on page 248).
I haven't found any other SAXON/SAXTON (etc.) families in 1860
Abbeville Co., SC.
There are no obvious clues in the names
Pearson and Lucy chose for the children, or in their grandchildren's names, to indicate who their parents might have been. Their children were Margaret F. and Nancy Catherine. Margaret married Charner RUSSELL and had children: Lucy Leola, John L., Lou (female), Bascum, and Truly (male). Nancy Catherine married John Wesley
RASBERRY and had children: John
Pearson, James
Hightower, Wesley Jacob, Allen L., Elva Maggie, and Myrtie Alice.
I'd like to correspond with anyone with information on this family, especially any suggestions about
Pearson A. SAXON's parentage, but also any additional information about him and/or his descendants in
Louisiana or elsewhere.
Thanks!
