My grandfather was alford lee Rodgers born in prentiss co ms on the edge of the former pontotoc union and lee county lines. he was the son of James W "Jim" Rodgers and Nancy A.M. Martin she was born in Lowdes Co Mississippi i remember her mother was Letha J Smith there was also an brother to Nancy. Many of the Rodgers are buried in the New Harmony Cem in Union Co it use to be in Pontotoc County before formation of Union Co. All i know is that the rodgers were believed to have come ffrom SC per the census for James W "Jim" Rodgers. The Rodgers and the Martins seemed to have stayed close together some of the records for these rodgers can be found in pontotoc, lee, and union counties as lee and union formed after the civil wars end. If you think we might have a connection contact me as ive been unable to establish a link past Jame W rodgers. Some of the sons of Alford went on to arkansas but i do not know where or which one. One came back with an arkansas bride that up and left him with a bunch of kids she went back to arkansas and was never heard from again another left here for arkansas and was never heard from again then another was shot by his wife as he walked back from a walk to the a store she aimed the rifle out a crack in the fireplace and shot him for no apparent reason-she may have been the one from arkansas not for sure on that.
