Hi Sarah,
In the 1900 census, the Thomas Brown in Greenville County was born July 1867, and both his parents were born in South Carolina (and, incidentally, I disagree with the Ancestry indexer -- the first name on this record doesn't look like Thomas to me). The Thomas Brown in Florence County was born December 1866, his father was born in SC and his mother in Connecticut.
If you have any questions about this or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me here at the Greenville County Library's South Carolina Room -- helping people do research is my job!
