The death date was from the cemetery and yes it was in Anderson County. She could have had a death certificate but under a different spelling of her name. I know everyone after 1915 was supposed to have a Death Certificate but I have ran across several people that a death Certificate could not be found for, so she may be one of those few.

THanks Cathy.

You said "there was a Janie E. that died in Anderson in 1918 but I checked and it wasn't her."

On the rootsweb Anderson Co web site it says on Emily's tombston the initials, "J.E. Wooten". Are you sure this is not her?

Cathy, I'd like to see that death certificate for the Janie E you mentioned. Any possibility? I'd pay you to send it?

In 1850 Greenville Co., SC living in the household of Moses Watson, there is an Emily Griffin the right age. She may have been adopted. On the very next census record there is an Elizabeth Griffin 34 HOH with a Margaret 19 and Peter 1 living with her. Anybody know much about this Watson family?
