An 1836 Greenville County, South Carolina court case between Wilson H. Bates and Thomas Brummitt subpoenas a conveyance of three slaves to Thomas Brummitt's daughter who is the wife of Wilson H. Bates. Thomas Brummitt in his will mentions a daughter Amanda Bates. Pearson Bates is living with Thomas Brummitt and Amanda on the 1850 Greenville County, SC census. So that proves the lineage I was searching for.
