I'm looking for my great grandparents - I believe they were from Winnsboro in Fairfield County. I cannot be sure if either was white or black or Indian. Their daughter (my grandmother) looked caucasian. Their daughter, Lenora, ended up in Jacksonville Florida around 1895. She married Preston Sampson of madison, Florida

I am researching families of Winnsboro SC. I had heard from a few people that my grandmother, Eunice born abt. 1893 was related to the COOKS. Surnames associated with her were FORD, LIGHTNER, GRADDICK, WISE, ROBERTSON.
Taylor was her married name and I have no idea how the COOKS connect.
My TAYLOR line also connects to the SAMPSONS of Fairfield Co., SC. I know some SAMPSONS left SC for Florida in the 1800s.
Do any of these surnames connect to yours?

I am just seeing this msg. My grandmother Leonora Cook came to Florida and married Preston W. Sampson from Madison, Florida. The eerie thing is that they look alike. I think it is entirely possible that they are cousins. Do you know which of your Sampsons went to Florida? Please tell me about them. I have no information about the Cook's. My grandmother was born circa 1877 in Winnsboro. I think she ended up in Fulton County, GA, because that is where she married a Sampson

According to another researcher Martha Sampson and Andrew Graddick left Winnsboro for Florida. My great grandmother's Death Certificate lists her mother as Martha Sampson. I believe this Martha who went to Florida to be my great great grandmother.
I don't have the information available who gave me the info, but I think it was through the Afrigeneas's boards.
