The following is from The Memorial and Biographical History of
Johnson and Hill Counties of
Texas (1892). Note that the dates are questionable. However, I am looking for any information on this family group. I have been unable to locate them in
Crawford county Georgia.
John L. B. Williams, a prosperous farmer of
Johnson county, is a son of Samuel and Elizabeth (
Goodin)
Williams. The father was born in Edgefield district
South Carolina, in 1845 (sic), was a farmer by occupation, and was a member of the Primitive
Baptist Church. The parents were married about 1765 (sic), and had five children, viz.: Bertha, deceased; William, deceased; Delila, deceased, was the wife of James Visage, of
Crawford county, Georgia; Mary A., deceased, was the wife of Jacob Visage, of the same county; and John L. B., the subject of this sketch.
The latter was born in
Crawford county,
Georgia, November 4,1837, and remained with his parents until after the war, when he came to
Johnson county, Texas...In 1861 Mr. Williams, enlisted in the Sixth
Georgia Infantry, Company C, under
Colonel Cleveland, and served until the close of the war...
Mr. Williams was married in 1868 to Mattie
Robinson, a native of
Crawford county and they had three children: Albert, of
Johnson county;
Elbert, deceased; Nettie, at home. The wife and mother died in 1872, and in 1873 Mr. Williams married
Missouri Whittsip (sic, probably Whitsit), and they have had seven children, namely: Eliza, at home;
Eldred, John, Luella, Ora, Samuel and W. Poindexter.
