I have a copy of his will - a typed transcription of the will, that is. I also received a note saying "Original not available." I am wondering what happened to the original. I have heard that someone once took these records home to do some research and the Edgefield County officials would not let him/her return them since they were then considered "contaminated" (or something to that effect) since they had been removed from the courthouse and now they are stored in some storeroom. I want the ORIGINAL, not a transcribed copy. I have not had this problem in other counties.

Janie, thanks for your great service.Am trying to break thru the brick wall. James King, with two young males is enumerayed on the 1790 Edgefield Co. census. There is also listed, as head-of-household, an Elizabeth King. My g-g-g-g-father,Willis King, was born to this James King and wife Sarah, in 1792, so he is not one of the young males listed in 1790. My Questions...Are there records that tie James to the Elizabeth King that is listed on the 1790 census,... any listing of the names of the two young males that were no doubt older brothers to Willis,... and any info on date of death of James King ? Thanks much...Ed King
