I am a volunteer researcher with the Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site near Summerville, South Carolina, USA. Dorchester was settled in 1696/97 and for various reasons had been abandoned by 1788. One of our missions is to build family history files for these settlers and locate their descendants. Eventually we hope to have a research center at the site as well as a website.
