I have sent you an email in regards to this posting. I am also including the contents of the email here so that others can see it.

Although I am not a professional researcher, I have done some research on the Colleton Craven lines. In regards to the James Craven who was the father of Jarvis Craven, I do not think that his wife's maiden name was Peeples. From the research I have done, it appears that some researchers have guessed the her maiden name was Peeples because one of her sons was named "Darley Peeples Craven". Therefore, researchers have concluded that since the son's middle name was Peeples, this must be his mother's maiden and was passed on to the son to honor the name.

Darley or Darling Peeples was a well-known minister in the area and many families named their sons after him. I think that probably James Craven and his wife named their son after the minister and that Peeples was not the wife's maiden name. It's just personal opinion, so if you have other information or proof of James Craven's wife's maiden being Peeples, please share it with me.

The only bit of information I have on James' wife is that she was from Maine. This information was included in a short biographical sketch done on one of her sons, Robert Martin Craven, and is included in the book "Montana Its Story and Biography: A History of Aboriginal and Territorial Montana and Three Decades of Statehood, Tom Sout, editor, copyright 1921, Extracted from Chapter 22: Montana's Educational System, Section: State School of Mines, volume 1 p 549." Robert Martin Craven ended up in Montana during the Civil War.

I have other information on this family, namely the children. Perhaps you already have the same information as me, but if not, I am happy to share what I have.

I hope this helps. If anyone else has any other information, please share.
Thanks,
Terri Spencer
