While I do not have any of the names you mentioned in you 1 April posting I am sure there must be a connection. My Kinseys come from St Bartholomew parish. My great grandmother, Elvira Jane Padgett Hanberry, was named for her grandmother Elvira Kinsey. Elvira Kinsey was married to Griffin Garris and her parents were John Kinsey born about 1765 and _____Jones. Johns dad was Joseph Kinsey b about 1715 and his father was John Kense. Hope this may help some.

Jennett, None of the Padgetts you mention are in my database. If they were from Colleton County, however, they are probably related somehow. Thanks for your reply.

Tom, my ggg grandfather, Samuel PADGETT, had 9 children. We don't know the names of the 5 girls in the family. I list them as unknown female#1, #2, etc. Unknown female #2 was born about 1792 and died before 1845. She married an Isham REDISH about 1810. One of the sons in Samuels family, Isham PADGETT, married Mary SMOAK. He was also married to a Sarah KICKLIGHTER. My gg grandfather, James Graham PADGETT, who was the youngest child in the family, married Elizabeth Garris. She was previously married to a Myley. Do you know the name of Isham REDISH's wife? Ohters?

My grandparents, E.P. Redish and Nita Smoak Redish, were given a tract of land in exchange for taking care of Barry or Berry ( Benny) W. Garris Sr. and his wife Narcissus Warren Redish Garris. After Grandmother's death in 1916, the children of E.P. and Nita Smoak Redish stayed a while in the care of a Padgett. i do not know the name but my Mother and Aunt always said the Padgett family and the Redish and or Smoak families were related. Do you show anything of such a connection in your records? Thanks, Tom Atkinson

Thanks for the reply. According to my records my Great-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Redish, he is buried at Carter's Ford Baptist Church. He was the only child of Isham Adam Redish and Narcissus Warren Redish (she married Barry/Benny/Berry Garris after Adam's death). From some other folks research Adam Isham Redish was the son of Isham Redish and his wife Katy Padgett. Some research suggests they were the parents of at least three sons, Isham Adam, Isham, and Peter Redish. It seems odd they would have named two sons Isham, but possibly that was a middle name for both of them. Katy Padgett would likely have been born ca 1804 and it is felt she died after Sep 1850. Isham Redish Sr, is thought to have been a son of Thomas Redish, likely born around 1753 and thought to have died after 1790 where he was shown on the census of St. Barthomews(sp??) Parish, Charleston District, SC. Thomas is felt to have been the father of Drewery Redish who married Jane Carter, another unknown son, and Isham Redish Sr. I do not have anything on Katy Padgett's line. Tom

O'Bryan Family
Classification: Query
Surnames: O'Bryan, Canaday, Jackson
In 1890, the children of Mary and Porter Jackson insigated a suit as heirs of O'Bryan Trizvant Canaday. The property involved was principally a house and lot in the town of Walterboro. The lot was originally a part of a lot "now owned by B. G. O'Bryan, formerly a part of the same lot." I am wondering if you have any record of this B. G. O'Bryan. My main interest lies in the Jackson family. It seems that Mary Jackson was the daughter of O'Bryan T. Canaday's sister. I don't have a clue to her name or who she married. It would seem that having part of the same lot and having been given O'Bryan as a Christian name, O'Bryan Canaday must surely have been related to B. G. O'Bryan. Can you tell me anything about these people? At this point, anything might give me a starting place to search further. Thanks in advance! Bettie BerryBAuthor@aol.com

Thanks for getting back to me. The little bit of information I have comes from the church history of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Jefferson County. According to their records one of the founders of the church was James Sanders Walker. This James Walker was born in 1802 and was married to Elizabeth Padget in 1827 in Colleton District, South Carolina. He died in 1886 and was buried in the old Walker Cemetery. Records in the Jefferson County Courthouse show that James Walker deeded in 1884 to William B. and Joel E. Walker one acre of land. These three men were all deacons of Elizabeth Baptist Church and were referred to as brothers. Unfortunately the church history did not list any of their children. I did recognize some of the names of the children of James S. Walker you listed from the Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery list. Under Walkers was: Jesse W. born Dec. 25, 1838, died Dec. 1, 1912 and Isham J. (or J. Isham?) born February 25, 1835, died November 6, 1917. This is all the information I have, not much, but I do know that George B. Walker is my great-great grandfather. Let me know if any of this information is useful.

Sorry about the delay. I am interested in the fact that you believe that Joel E and William B. WALKER were brothers of James WALKER. The James that I am interested in was born 1802 in Colleton SC and migrated to Jefferson Co. Fla. In the Jefferson County Census data there is a second James S. WALKER born in 1811 in SC. They both married wives named Elizabeth but had different children. My James had the following children. Delilah 1828, Nancy 1830, Joel P. 1832, James Isham 1835, Harriet 1836, Jesse W. 1838, Sarah A. 1841, Annie E. 1844 and my Grandfather Alfred Darius 1850. I find a Joel E. WALKER born 1839 in the 1850 & 1860 Jefferson Co Fla census but he is the son of Littleberry WALKER who I believe might be a brother or cousin of my James. Littleberry WALKER born 1812 in SC also had a son William J. WALKER born 1841. Joel E. WALKER in the 1870 census seems to have married an Amanda born 1832 in Fla. There is a second Joel WALKER born 1823 in SC who has a son George B. who was 6 month old during the 1850 census. George B. WALKER seems to show up in the 1900 census as a boarder in the Americus Bishop household. There is a William B. WALKER born 1840 in the 1850 census but he is the son of Jesse WALKER born 1800 in SC. How does this information relate to your data? Is the my James the one that you are related to? Can you add any to this information?
