There are so many James and Williams, it is very confusing. I have long thought the father of my Jonathan Elliott, born 1804 in Chester Co., was named William. I believe the Elizabeth Elliott listed in 1810 and 1820 census records may have been William's widow, and she had a son who could have been my Jonathan. But that's as far as I can go.
