I am looking for any information on Donald McDonald and his wife Sarah Godley McDonald who lived in Charleston from the 1850's until Sarah's death in 1890. Donald died in 1878. Their children were Mary Amanda (1844 -1922), Benjamin (1848 - 1885), William H. (1850 - 1903), and George W. H. (1853 - 1944). Donald's birth year is listed as 1810 but his birthplace and parents are a mystery. Sarah was born in Beaufort in 1820 to Benjamin Godley and Mary Geoghagan Godley.

Donald may have been born in South Carolina, Georgia or possibly Scotland. In the 1860 Charleston Census he is listed as the keeper of Magnolia Cemetery which is where the entire family is buried. I cannot find any record of this family prior to the 1860 Census. Donald is my 3rd Great Grandfather.
