Classification: Query
Surnames: Pinckney, Greene
I have been researching my family roots for more than seven (7) years. I have been trying desperately to find out information about my grandfather Elias Pinckney Sr. He was born in South Carolina in 1904. He had an older brother by the name of William Hezekiah Pinckney, born in 1899/1900. I also heard there may have been a couple sisters, Shirley and Ruth (not sure though). Both brothers moved to Philadelphia, PA during the late 1920’s. I would like to know who their parents were. There are so many Pinckney’s in South Carolina, you have to know at least one of the parents, in order to follow the correct Pinckney family line. I have been told that their mother’s name was “Wilhelmina” (Both brothers have a daughter with that name). I need this information the help complete my family tree. My family tree can be found on Ancestry.com: http://trees.ancestry.com/pt/pedigree.aspx?tid=6534158

Information about my grandparents:
Elias Pinckney Sr. married my grandmother Essie Green, also from South Carolina. They had three children:
Wilhelmina Rebecca Pinckney – 192* (my mother) – Living in Philadelphia
Frances Eastermae Pinckney – 192* (my aunt) – Living in Philadelphia
Elias Pinckney Jr. – 1930 (my uncle) – Passed away in 1998 – San Francisco CA

This is what I know about my great uncle William:
William H Pinckney married a Julia, I don’t know her maiden name. They had three daughters ( I think)
Wilhelmina Pinckney - 1917 – Born SC
Helen Pinckney - 1926/27 – Philadelphia, PA
Elouise Pinckney - 1916 – Born SC

My mother told me that William and his family lived on Colorado Street in South Philadelphia. My grandmother “Essie” passed away in 1968, and I remember the names Julia and Wilhelmina Pinckney in the obituary book. I have Pinckney aunts, uncles, and cousins living throughout Philadelphia and South Carolina, but I know absolutely nothing about them. I remember a Pinckney cousin of mine from South Philadelphia was killed in action in Vietnam, (He looked exactly like my Uncle Elias Jr.) During the late 60’s to early 70’s a cousin whose was nickname Pookie use to visit us quite often. I heard she suffered from a stroke a few years ago.

If any of these names seems familiar to you, please contact me. My cousins from "Philadelphia, Pa", who maybe related to Uncle William & Aunt Julia, please contact me. I don't want anything, just a bit of our ancestral history. Hoping to hear from some distant cousin.

Sincerely,
Senora M Amos
