My g grandfather
Harmon (on one record his first name is spelled
Holloman) Howard
Hayes b. 1817-1818 in SC first shows up on the 1840
Anderson County SC Census. In 1850 he shows up on the
Franklin Co., Ga. Census as H. H. Hayes, farmer. In 1860 he appears as H. H. Hayes, school teacher. By 1870 he is listed on the
Franklin Co., Ga. census as
Hamond Hayes, farmer and by 1880 is still on the
Franklin Co. census as
Harmon H. Hayes.
He was married four times during his life: 1/m. Fanny Teake, 2/m. Caroline _____, 3/m. Mrs. Margaret P. (_____) Williams and 4/m. Sarah Eliza Davis. He died in 1890 and is buried in what is now Stephens Co., Ga.(originally
Franklin Co., Ga.) His 15th child was my grandfather who was named
Harmon Harrison Hayes (he was 2 yrs. old when his father died.) Due to this fact, not a lot is known in our family about
Harmon Howard Hayes'family or ancestors. I am interested in anyone who might have researched this family or some branch of it and who might be willing to work together or share info. His children were: 1. Cynthia M. Hayes 2. Elizabeth K. Hayes who m. James Franklin Casey, 3. Rebecca E. Hayes, 4. Waddy L. Hayes who m. Nancy T. Rice, 5. Mary Jane

Yates and 4/m. ____
Jackson, 14. Theodora
Hayes who m. Nathan
DeFoor and finally 15. Harmon
Harrison Hayes who m. Mittie Sedora Isbell.
I communicated with one researcher in
Alabama who had a Jacob
Hayes in
Anderson Co. in 1820-40, but his family moved on to Forsythe Co., Ga., Carroll Co. Ga. and by 1870 was in Ala. That Jacob had a son he named
Harmon H. Hayes and many of the other names are similar. When my
Harmon Howard
Hayes married his 4th wife, the children by his third wife left and moved to
Alabama to the same area. However, this researcher and I were unable to find definite proof of family connection. Is there anyone who can help me?
