Sorry about that. Yes this is a Black family. Let me straighten out some more details. Frank Vance was in his late 80s when he passed away in 1918. His son Frank Jr. lived in Abbeville also and had several children. Mary, whom I called my grandmother, was married to a Joe Evans and had three children: Harry, Ira, and Jessie. According to the 1900 census Mary lived with her brother Allen and his wife. Between that time of 1900, her husband had married two other women, one of which was also named Mary. She gave Joe two children: Josiebell and Willie Simon. In 1962 Josie Evans, who became a Williams, died in August 9, 1962 in Charlotte, N.C. The entire thing gets confusing as it goes on.
