I saw the name in your first message after I posted, but she was not in the online index at Richland Library. I am not sure whether it goes back that far, though. I also looked at the SC Historical Newspaper collection there which has the State and Edgefield papers, but did not find an obit. Caroliniana has the Abbeville Press and another Abbeville paper for 1895, but only have a few editions in that year. I have not had much luck finding obits in that era. The person either had to be well known or an unusual death and it often does not yield much genealogical information. If you are not sure of the year, I will do another search from 1895-1900. Who was her husband? Sometimes women's obituaries are listed as Mrs. _____ Monroe, and do not have her given name.
