Thanks for the info. How are the early records on James Island listed. I have started going throught the Colonial &State records of S. C. (a set of books) at the archives in Columbia. This is a chore! the N. C. set has one major index, in these books each book is indexed. takes a little longer! I do know that some of the Rivers on James Island were Presby. Haven't had a chance to go through Presby. records yet. Do you know if there were early Rivers in another part of Charleston other then James Island?
