NEWPORT --- Mary Catherine Madigan, 86, of the Potting Shed, Victory Avenue, died Saturday at home. She was the widow of John H. Madigan.
Born in Swansea, she was a daughter of the late David and Joanna (Cronin) Goggin.
Mrs. Madigan had worked for the New England Telephone Co. before marriage. She was a member of the AARP and the Edward King House.
She leaves a daughter, Joanna Smith of Newport; a brother, Lincoln Goggin of Huntington Beach, Calif., and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary's Church, Spring Street. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Warren.

ANN GOGGIN, of Willett Avenue, Riverside, a self-employed hairdresser and instructor in Providence for more than 20 years, died Saturday at Riverside Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late David Goggin.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Hayden) Kennedy, she lived in Barrington most of her life.
Mrs. Goggin was a communicant of St. Brendan Church, Riverside.
She leaves a sister, Celia R. McFadden of Riverside, and a cousin, Mary Enos of Swansea.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. from the Rose E. Sullivan Funeral Home, 866 County St., Route 138, Somerset, with a funeral Mass at 10 at St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Ave., Riverside.
