I am looking for information about the children of John J. Goggin (born 1833 in Cork, Ireland) and Mary Healy/Haley (born 1846 in Ardnageeha, Cork, Ireland). Mary died in Childbirth on April 27, 1873 in Goleen, Cork, Ireland. They had at least six children, most of whom immigrated to Rhode Island or Southeastern Massachusetts in the late 1800s.

John Thomas (born 1866) married Mary Anne O’Rourke
David (born 1871) married Hannah Cronin
Thomas Joseph (born 1873) married Catherine Barnett
Helen married Peter Sauro
Mary (Minnie) married Timothy Sullivan
Nellie married ? O’Sullivan

This is kind of long so I will probably split it into more managable chunks. This is all I could find. I'm not coming up with anything on the women...Sullivan especially is just too common a name. Approximate years of birth would have been helpful.

You might try looking on some of the people searching sites for current addy's for some of the folks mentioned in the obits, contact them and see if they remember the elder generation of Goggin ladies.

If I've mentioned a link and you don't find it in one reply, it's probably in one of the others.

Possible birth years and vol/pg for registration of birth. I made the assumption that, since the Goggin"s seemed to stick together in the same general area....East Bay RI and nearby MA.....that the births might have been one of the town contiguous to RI. Seekonk borders on East Providence

Goggin Agnes Seekonk 1899 484 319 Birth
Goggin Gertrude Seekonk 1898 4 295 Birth
Goggin Irene Eunice Seekonk 1904 542 346 Birth
Goggin Minnie Seekonk 1895 4 289 Birth

And maybe one of the 2 children Mary gave birth to who weren't living on the 1910 census.....
Goggin John F. Seekonk 1896 457 304 Birth

I did a search of the Providence paper on line for anyone this family group, nothing. Perhaps someone else, if you post on the Bristol Co. board MA will be able to access the newspaper that services Seekonk or Taunton to search for obits. couldn't find thomas so maybe he died earlier than the mid to late 1960's when the SSDI starts up. Women impossible w/o knowing their husbands' surnames. MA vitals search only covers up to 1910.

Here are possible SSDI's -

You should consider that maybe the reason for her being in CA was that she was living with an unknown adult child. the tree gives a Living Duffy married to a Living Brennan with a female child but since these people are living, nothing else.

Thomas E. Goggin; founder, ex-owner of Sunnybrook Farm
Providence Journal. Providence, R.I.: Apr 17, 1985. pg. C-02

BARRINGTON --- Thomas E. Goggin, 75, of Stone Tower Lane, and 2800 S. Ocean Blvd., Boca Raton, Fla., founder and former owner of Sunnybrook Farm Inc., died Monday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia B. (Beirne) Goggin.

Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (Barnett) Goggin. He spent summers in Barrington and winters in Florida for nine years.

Mr. Goggin also formerly owned the Goggin Motor Sales, Seekonk. He had been in the milk business in Rhode Island for more than 30 years. He was a leader in the battle for the right to sell jug milk below the legal minimum price in Rhode Island. The business, which he sold in 1972, involved a chain of 65 stores in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He was a member of the Rhode Island Country Club and the Warwick Country Club.

The last time I checked, the costs were a $5 service fee with a charge of $0.20 per page for copies. You make your request with names and dates, they do a look-up and let you know what they found. Because they had a problem with sending the copies to people but never receiving payment, now before they will do the copy you will have to send the $5 and the cost for however many pages of copies they've said your information is contained on. (Before Belo Corp. took over the Providence Journal, there were the traditional obits on one page and there could be a larger personal bio on an adjoining page so at least 2 pages of obit information is possible.)
