I need help finding a community newspaper or gazette where a death notice, obituary, funeral service or obsequies, memorial or burial service may have been reported. The time will be about April or May, 1865. The place for the funeral or memorial service may have been at Hopkinton, Washington County, Rhode Island, or Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island. The burial service would have been at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Rhode Island. The person of interest is Private George A. Thomas, a Union soldier in the US Civil War serving with Company A, Seventh Regiment, Rhode Island Volunteers. Private George A. Thomas died on active duty April 14, 1863 in an Army hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. His body was transported “home” most likely to Hopkinton, Rhode Island where his wife and two children resided. His body was buried in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, Rhode Island. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Bob Doughty, Seattle, Washington
Some family records have her maiden name as OTTER, however, I cannot find any OTTERS in the RI records I have researched. There are, however, POTTERS and UTTERS and I am wondering if perhaps there hasnt been a transcribing error somewhere. Does any one have a Hannah that meets the dates and marriage to Anthony Remington? She died in 1842 in Fowler, OH. Thanks for any help you can.

I have one half of an original hand-written diary, written by Daniel Stedman. The diary covers the years 1826 thru 1849. There was (or hopefully, is) a second volume covering the years from 1849 thru 1859, when Daniel died. When I finish transcribing 1826 thru 1849, I plan to give the original book to the Rhode Island Historical Society, in the hope that they can preserve it and make it available to anyone who is interested. I think it would be wonderful if someone could offer the later book in the same way, so that the complete document could be available and preserved. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information about this missing diary. Daniel Stedman was my great-great-grandfather, which helps to explain my interest in the diary.

Thanks.
Henry Oatley
I am looking for someone who would be willing to go to the Benedict Eldred Lot in South Kingstown to take pictures of gravesites/headstones. I have directions and would be willing, of course, to pay for time and trouble in doing this. If you can do this for me, or know of someone else who can, please email me at galejean614@yahoo.com

This would mean so very much to someone in our family.

Thank You

BALL Descendents on Block Island -- Washington Co.

I am looking to find a contact living on Block Island that can, in turn, put me in contact with any Ball family currently living there. I am compiling (as part of a larger New England Ball Project) descendants of Edward Ball that was early at New Shoreham. I need a living male Ball descendant to provide a DNA test (at my expense) to get a start on a profile of the DNA markers for Edward Ball descendants. I have DNA profiles for several of the early Ball immigrants to New England and these are very helpful for people with "brick walls" in their New England Ball lines, but I do not yet have a profile identified for the Block Island clan. Contact can come to me at ballproject@shaw.ca

David G. Ball
North Vancouver, BC, Canada
Compiler of The New England Ball Project

Nathan Brand of Westerly to Leonardsville, NY 1815

John Francis Brand is a descendant of the Westerly, Rhode Island Brand families. The Cyclopedia of Michigan was published in 1890 by the Western Publishing and Engraving Company of New York and Detroit. On page 171 and 172 of this publication you can find a biography for John F. Brand and it reads:

John F. Brand, of Saginaw. There are not many men in Saginaw City who have a more genuine claim to respect and popularity than he whose name heads this sketch. Men may achieve prominence in any one position; they may become notoriously well known, it my be; but it is of a different kind of popular notice that we would treat. It is the intention of the writer, by plain, unvarnished narration, to tell the story of one who has secured to himself name and character by the possession of those traits which bind men together one to the other with hooks of steel. Many years ago-to be more exact, in the early part of the present century-a young lad named Nathan Brand made the journey from Westerly, Rhode Island, to a place know as Leonardsville, in Madison County, New York, entirely on foot. It was a distance of several hundred miles, and the boy was but eleven years of age. He had but one objective point, and that was to find an uncle who was located at the place named. In these days of rapid transit and luxurious modes of travel, it is hard to conceive of such a pilgrimage as this, and by such a mere child. But it is of such grit that New England boys and girls-her men and women-were made. It was the possession of just such a ground-work, mental and physical, which made the American Republic a possibility to its settlers. It was the possession of these qualities, in all their fullness, which made the volunteers from the North invincible in the late war, and which insured to the whole people a united Nation of freemen. This digression was a necessity; for it will supply the reason, if any were needed, why the Brand family history is replete with the names of men who have conquered fate and wrested good fortune from adverse circumstances. Young Nathan Brand reached his destination safely, and thenceforward made Leonardsville his home. In due time he established a important industry at that point, and he obtained the celebrity attaching to a pioneer inventor and manufacturer. His skill in inventing many important devices, especially in the making of hoes and forks-a necessity in every agricultural region-made him famous; and many of his ides are still in vogue in every manufactory of those implements in the United States. He is now (1890) eighty-two years of age, hale and hearty, and is a resident of Llion, New York. It is of such parentage that John F. Brand, the subject of this sketch, springs; and it is of this parentage that he is justly proud. He was born in Leonardsville, New York, December 14, 1845. His mother, Clarinda Brand, was born in the vicinity of the same town, and died in 1876. John attended common school until he was thirteen; but, unlike many boys of that day, he was fortunate enough to secure the advantages of a finishing educational touch at the Whitestone Academy. He did not obtain this opportunity, however, until he was in his sixteenth year, nor did he enjoy the advantage very long; for, one year from that time, when the country was calling upon its brave men to rise in defense of their liberties, young Brand volunteered for the war. He enlisted in Company G, One Hundred and Fourteenth New York Regiment. He was but seventeen; and yet the same spirit which animated the father to make the long and perilous journey of his youth, single-handed and alone, inspired the son to give his earliest manhood to the service of the Nation. His enlistment occurred in 1862. His regiment, with which he remained during the war, formed part of Bank’s expedition to New Orleans. It rendered glorious duty in Western Louisiana; aided in the siege of Port Hudson; was then withdrawn to the North, and became part of Sheridan’s army serving valiantly in the Shenandoah Valley campaign, and engaging in the battle of Cedar Creek. Like many others-like the vast majority of those who enlisted-young brand obtained no military rank. To him, as to them, the motive which actuated his enlistment was the patriotic desire to preserve the integrity of the Union. If that were accomplished, then was his work well done; and the discharge papers which he received, when mustered out of the army, claimed for him that he had been loyal, steadfast, and true. On leaving the army he located at Llion, New York; but the fatigues and hardships of the war, the marching through and camping in deadly swamps, had made sad havoc with his constitution, and he was obliged to remain idle for a year, in order to recuperate his wasted forces. After recovering his health somewhat, he procured employment in the Remington Armory, and there he remained for two years. He then made a trip to Saginaw, and, liking the place, he started a small mercantile business there. This was in 1868, and he continued in this business until 1875, when he sold out and once more returned to his old home in Leonardsville, and remained there some years. But in 1878 he again turned his face westward, again settled in Saginaw, and this has been his home ever since. The love for manufacturing enterprises comes naturally to him, for it is an inherited trait. At first, Mr. Brand rented the old Saginaw City Mills, and entered upon the manufacture of flour and feed; and to this was added another dissimilar industry, but an industry peculiar to the region-the making of shingles. To these two enterprises he added still another-the making of salt; and here he found the employments for which he was best fitted. His ventures were successful, so muc so that in 1882 he erected a new flouring and shingle mill. It was the first all roller flour-mill in Michigan, with a capacity of two hundred barrels of flour per day; and it has run almost continuously from that time. In 1880, however, Mr. brand formed a co-partnership with Mr. A. C. Harden, and the concern of Brand & Hardin has no superior, in its various lines of business, in the entire West. The enterprise, in all of its parts, has been a success from the outset, for the reason that its projector aimed first to excel all competitors in the quality of the goods. His pride was to produce the best articles, to deal honestly by all men, to trust the result to the Supreme Ruler and Arbiter; and success, under those conditions, was a foregone conclusion. And as John Brand has sown in the past, so shall he reap in the future. By his upright dealing, by his sterling honesty, he has formed friendships which are among his most valued possessions. It has been well said that the man who causes one blade of grass to grow where none grew before, is a benefactor to his race. Brand & Hardin are benefactors in this sense, and in many ways. They have given employment to many, and they have given an excellent reputation to the city in which they make their home, by the character of the enterprises they have established in her midst. In 1870, Mr. Brand was married to Emily P., daughter of Daniel Hardin, of Saginaw. A friend, in giving his estimate of John F. Brand, recently said of him: ‘The purity and nobility of his personal character make the characteristics of a beautiful, well-rounded life. Men who know him are proud of the acquaintanceship .’ What better record could any man have made? What better legacy can he leave to those he loves, and those who love him?”
Simeon Clark married Abigail Reynolds, Rhode Island

Simeon and Abigail are my gr-gr-grandparents. I have military papers on their son Jonathan Reynolds Clark who died in Jackson, Mississippi during the Civil War. Jonathan was born 1830.

However, the documentation is a marriage certificate for Jonathan and his wife, Caroline Card daughter of William Henry Card and Mary Clarke. So it gives no dates for Simeon and Abigail. I have had assistance from a volunteer and there were so many Simeon Clark(e)/Abigail Reynolds marriages that we could not zero in on any one marriage.

Is there anyone in Washington County who would be related to John Ray Clark(e) who had a son Adelbert Clark(e)? I believe John Ray, a brother to Jonathan, married a Lydia Lewis. John Ray I believe worked for the railroad. Any help would be so appreciative. Somehow connected is a Gladys Owens Heath, no doubt deceased now. She could have been a wife of one of John Ray's children.

Jonathan, in a bio printed of the 7th R.I. Inf. Volunteer's, is said to have had 7-8 siblings. John Ray is the only one that I am sure about.

Thanks so much,

Arlene Clarke Haddock
However, as they had only married in July 1799 I think we can safely assume the child was born "very late in 1799" (wink, wink), or in spring 1800.

Need help to identify the parents of both Joseph & Marcy, their siblings, and their children -- also what became of them. Any assitance greatly appreciated. Pls cite sources for any data if you can. Cheers! DC Young

Westerly Drowning Death of Five or Six Men, 1726

My 6g grandfather was Judah or Jonah WORDEN, 1695-1726. Born in Massachusetts, father Peter WORDEN, Judah/Jonah was said to have drowned 9 Dec 1726, Westerly, Rhode Island. I am unable to locate the story of that drowning. All I have found thus far is, "Jonah was drowned along with five other men." Surely there is more to the story than that.

I would appreciate any help you might offer. Thank you.

Hello,
I'm going to be going up to the greater westerly Area late this summer to go looking for the graves of my ancestors. I keep seeing these descriptions of where cemeteries are located in refernece to telephone poles, like "Location: 15 ft east of Watch Hill Rd at Tel pole #1100" Are the telephone poles really numbered? Are they labeled with numbers on them? or do you have to get some old map that tells you what the numbers are? I ask becuase I'll be coming up from Orlando and only have a limited amount of time to go hunting and want to be as prepared as possible. Anyone who lives in the area that can answer my question, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Jennifer

Later his decendants that are related to me are at Stonnington, Connecticut, Westerly, Rhode Island, Preston, Connecticut and finally Greenwich and neighbouring Stamford, Connecticut.

Nicholas Utter Sr. was a Swede who first settled at New Sweden in 1654 and remained in America after New Sweden was taken by the Dutch and at some point after that made his to Rhode Island. Because of the lack of records I have not yet figured out when he arrived in Rhode Island or at Kings Town.

regards

Donald Clink Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Looking for any birth, marriage, church, or bible record, etc... information. John C. Hall was born in Rhode Island in 1767 according to the 1850 U.S. Census of Norfolk, Connecticut. His wife's name was Clara and both appear on that census. They also both died in Norfolk, CT from 1850-55. It is not known where they got married but John appears to have moved to CT and started a family in Norfolk in the early 1800's. John was a Native American [Pequot] and is listed as black, mulatto, or colored on various census records. His wife Clara is similarly listed but her maiden name is unknown. Oral family history says that John's middle initial "C" is for his real indian name and that his name was "changed" to John Hall when he got maried. Thanks and reply to hallsandgrants@yahoo.com

Am looking for the parents of the subject person. He was born in North Kingstown, RI in August, 1753 according to his Revolutionary War pension file, which I have a copy of. At the time of the outbreak of the war he was residing in Voluntown, CT. Whether he moved there with his family as a boy, or later as an adult, I do not know.

From the following book, this is the list of adult Green(e)'s living in North Kingstown at the appropriate time for Jabez to have been born there. Of course, some could have moved out by the time Jabez was born, but it is a start and I am wondering if anyone else is researching any of these people that might have additional information on them:

MacGunnigle, Bruce C. Rhode Island Freemen, 1747-1755. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1999., page 26 there are listed several Green(e)'s in North Kingstown who could possibly be the father of Jabez, they being Benjamin (1747); Daniel (1747); David (1751); David, Jr. (1752); Jeremiah (1755); Joshua (1748)

Thanks for your time,

Debbie Barrett
Coordinator
Pierce County WIGenWeb
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/

Rhode Island (Most likely in either Narragansett or Wakefield, both in Washington Co.)

or

Dorothy (Plested) Borsay b. 25 Jan 1898; England and d. Oct 1975; Narragansett, Washington, Rhode Island.

William was the husband of Dorothy Plested and together they had two (known) children: Ormonde F. Borsay and William J. Borsay. They immigrated to the USA from England around 1920.

Thank you,
Angela Femrite
tobias13s@hotmail.com
BLEVINS / BLEVENS / BLIVEN / BLIVIN Genealogical DNA Project

BLEVINS / BLEVENS / BLIVEN / BLIVIN Genealogical DNA Project

6 January 2007

To: All BLEVINS / BLEVENS / BLIVEN / BLIVIN descendants and researchers

Especially seek BLIVEN / BLIVIN participants who are proven back to Edward BLIVEN [b c1660s of Washington Co. RI, Westerly area] OR those who think they are of this line.

Subject: Time to join the BLEVINS /BLEVENS / BLIVEN / BLIVIN DNA Project!!

NOTE: I am in no way affiliated with any DNA testing company—my only interest is finding more participants for the project in order to further the genealogy of this surname group.

From: Kenneth W. SHIRLEY [descendant of Thomas BLEVINS [b c1823, m1842 Miami Co. OH Catherine YOUNCE of Ashe Co. NC]—Thomas is POSSIBLE son of Nathan BLEVINS b c1762 [m1 Rachel SKAGGS, m2 1802 Lydia (?VAUGHN?) PEPPERS]

Note: 37-marker DNA testing results show that a participant from my Thomas BLEVINS line matches 37/37 with Edward BLIVEN [b c1660s of Washington Co. RI, Westerly area]—indicates a common ancestor for the two participants. Need more participants from the Edward BLIVEN line.

Purpose: Seeking males named BLEVINS/BLEVENS/BLIVEN/BLIVIN [and other spelling alternatives—will use "BLEVINS" here for the sake of brevity] for participation in BLEVINS DNA Project

There is a BLEVINS/BLIVEN surname DNA project already in place. The person who is coordinating the BLEVINS DNA project is Owen BLEVINS who will be happy to assist any prospective participant. Owen’s email address is:

OBlevins@aol.com

If you are interested in participating OR if you know of a male BLEVINS/BLIVEN of your line who is willing to participate, just contact Owen BLEVINS, the DNA project administrator or, if you prefer, let me know that you want to participate. If someone from your line joins, be sure to have him give the identity of his "earliest proven ancestor" and sign the consent form that allows him to be informed of DNA matches with other participants [and vice-versa].

The project is relatively new, although there already are now some 20 DNA project participants and some very interesting and informative DNA matches among the participants.

You can contact Owen BLEVINS directly for additional information. Once you agree that you would like to participate in the DNA project, a DNA kit will be mailed to the name and address that you provide. Follow the instructions received with the kit, then mail it in with payment, and wait for the results. The DNA sample collection is a simple and painless procedure--brushing the inside of your cheek with a "cotton swab-like" collector.

It is my understanding that the results will be sent to the participant and a copy of the results to the BLEVINS/BLIVEN DNA project coordinator [Owen BLEVINS] who will post the results [anonymously] online, along with the name of your earliest PROVEN male BLEVINS/BLIVEN ancestor, at the BLEVINS DNA project website and on Owen BLEVINS website. Your results can then be compared with other BLEVINS/BLIVEN DNA project participants.

A few reminders:

A participant in the BLEVINS/BLIVEN DNA project must be a MALE with the surname of BLEVINS [or any variation such as BLEVENS/ /BLIVIN, or any male who thinks his surname might once have been one of these surnames].

Female BLEVINS/BLIVEN descendants/researchers [as well as male BLEVINS /BLEVIN descendants/researchers who are not named BLEVINS/BLEVIN] can assist greatly by recruiting male BLEVINS/BLEVIN DNA project participants and/or assisting the male participants financially with the cost of the DNA testing.

There are several levels of Y-DNA testing available for what we are doing [the 12-marker test, the 25 marker test, the new 37 marker test, and even a 68 marker test].. The more markers the better--whatever you feel you can do financially. Tests with the greater number of markers allow greater capability to begin sorting out the BLEVINS lines. I would very strongly urge any participant to go with at least the 37-marker test. The 37 (or larger) is necessary, in my opinion, to begin making heads or tails of the various branches of BLEVINS.] The more markers the more expensive the test, but the more you have to compare among branches of the BLEVINS family

Hope to hear soon that you have contacted Owen BLEVINS and have arranged to receive the DNA test kit, and shortly after that--that you have mailed in the kit for analysis. Thanks for your interest.

Ken Shirley
Grantville, Kansas
ShirleyKWJL@Gmail.com

Jabez Green(e) 1753-1840 RI to NY

Hi: Have recently been sent an excerpt of the subject mans will proving he is the grandfather of my Elizabeth Greene who married Chester Granger in Washington Co., New York. This Jabez was supposed to have been born 15 Aug 1753 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, served during the Rev. War in the Rhode Island Militia and then moved to Washington Co., NY sometime prior to 1790 when he is first enumerated there. he is listed in each of the federal census' there up until 1830 when he appears in Herkimer Co., NY. His will is dated 1840 (that is also the last census he appears in both federal and Rev. War pensioners).

The son who is the father of my Elizabeth was named Jeremiah and he was born ca. 1775-1780 and died before 1840. I don't know any other of Jeremiah's siblings names (only got an excerpt, not the entire will) Jabez's will names his grandchildren, children of Jeremiah, as follows:

Elizabeth
Rachel
Roxana
Hannah
Jabez
Jeremiah
Phebe
Nathaniel

If anyone could shed some light on this Jabez's ancestry in Rhode Island, it would be greatly appreciated.

Debbie Barrett
Coordinator
Pierce County WIGenWeb Project
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wipierce/

ROCKVILLE CHURCH - VINCENT-GREY marriage 1811 North Stonington

I have my GGGG grandmother's obituary which I obtained from the Seventh Day Baptist church. I have included a portion of it. There is mention of her joining the Rockville Church after her marriage to Clarke Vincent in 1811. Does anyone know which church this would be ? The History Of Rockville states that the Seventh Day Baptist church was built in 1846-1847
My Vincent family moved to New York around 1816, so it would not be that particular church. They remained members of the Seventh Day Baptist church, changing memberships after each succesive move.

"Her maiden name was Polly Grey, and she was married to Mr.Clark VINCENT,of Rockville, R.I., where she began her married life, and when she united with the Rockville Church. After various removals, and after the death of her husband, which occurred forty one years ago,she went with her youngest son(Hiram)to reside in Persia, Cattaraugus Co., N. Y. Then she became a member of the church of Persia. Her son with whom she lived enlisted in the War of the Rebellion, and died in a Rebel prison.Afterward
she went to live with her daughter, the wife of Dea.John Crandall, in whose family she resided until her death. She raised eight children, of whom three only are now living."

Any help would be appreciated.

I am searching all about 'Martin M. Simon', he was born Sept. 29. 1866 in Denmark. Emigrated to USA/Louisiana/New Orleans 1885 from Copenhagen as kommis on 19 years. Maybe he was married about 1894? with 'Fadell' born nov. 1864? Massachusetts, later they had 2 sons, Ralp (b. 1895) and Harold (b. 1897) both in Massachusetts. In cencus 1900 they lived in Connecticut/Tolland/Stafford Town. I mean he now had change his name to 'William H. Martin', but why? Later, (abt. 1910- before1930) I know he was photographer and had a studio 'Martin' in Westerly R.I. Norwich Conn. Here he had 2 girls 'Jeanne' (b. abt. 1909) and 'Karen Maja' (b. abt. 1918). 'Jeanne' later married to 'Partland' and lived 'S1 Westminster Street', Westerly R.I., and 'Karen married 'Bob'.

Your Kindness
Henrik Atting
Bjaeverskov, Denmark.

I am hot on the trail now. Does anyone claim Jalen Greene and wife Esther Gleeson (Gleason) of Rhode Island in their ancestry? The name Jalen is deciphered from his son's death certificate - it could be Julius, Jalias, etc. Best guess is Jalen

It appears Jalen's son, James Green, b. 1802, married Mary Hewitt and lived (floated maybe) around the western end of NY - they had children in Attica, Greece, and who knows where. James went to Michigan at least for a while, but returned and died in Pike 1884. His daughters, Elvira Green Shepherd 1821-1914 (m. Martin Shepherd 1814-1877) lived and died in Pike, Mary A. (Adeline M.) Green Murray b. 1825 (m. Sanford L. Murray 1814-1859 resided Michigan) came back to Pike from Michigan and died there 1878. Son Albert Benjamin Green m. Florilla Fargo of Warsaw and moved to Michigan. There was another daughter Emily who is missing in action - and possibly a son.

I am welcome to all hints. Ann Marr

I am working on the Hall Family tree and I can get back as far as James Harvey Hall, born in Jefferson County, OH. On the census's he list his father's birthplace as Rhode Island. I have no name to even search for except for a Hall in Rhode Island. Does anyone know of a branch of the Rhode Island Hall family that migrated to Jefferson County, Ohio.
Your time, help and effort is greatly appreciated!
Angie Hall Bowness

Interested in the descendants of Thomas Mitchell of Block Island. He was first sited on B.I. in 1677 and is believed to be the son of Experience Mitchell of Plymouth who married the daughter of Francis Cooke of the Mayflower. I have traced my Mitchel/Mitchells back to the 1700's in Colchester/East Haddam/ Lyme, Connecticut. Their neighbors also have Block Island name re Niles, Rathbun, Rose, Mott, etc.

Since families tended to migrate together the possiblity that these might be the same families intrigues me.

Any help appreciated

Elaine Tillquist Pavone

Greetings. I am seeking a marriage record for William Gard(i)ner and Betsy (or Elizabeth) Potter likely sometime between 1785 and 1805 in North or South Kingstown Rhode Island.

A death record for one of their apparent daughters - Am(e)y (Gard(i)ner) Clark (b abt 1806/07 in one of the Kingstowns; d Jan 1880 Attleboro Mass) - indicates her parents were from South Kingstown, but either North or South Kingstown seems possible.

William Gard(i)ner and Betsy (or Elizabeth) Potter were likely born sometime between 1765 and 1788.

Boss Family from Exeter/North Kingstown, Washington Co. Rhode Island

I am trying to locate someone that is of the Boss family in the Washington Co. area, specifically, Exeter & North Kingstown area. My GGgrandmother, Renewed, of whom I believe is the last child born to Capt. Benjamin & Sarah Boss. From the info that I have was that she was born in 1805, & was married to James Madison Warner, of Herkimer, NY. After they were married, they lived in the Madison Co. area of NY. I know that Renewed was living back in Rhode Island, in the town of Exeter, in 1880. I assume that a sibling may have lived in Exeter, since the census of that year lists her as a sister to the residence of the home. I would be most greatful if someone that area could tell me who lived in Exeter during that year or give me info on how to find out. Thankyou.

I have a small tablet of family genealogy hand-written by Martha Josephine Freeman, d/o Martha Gavit NASH and Edward Mundy FREEMAN.

Martha Gavit Nash was d/o Mary Ann GAVIT & James Sheffield NASH of Wash. CO., RI. This includes some notes on her NASH, MITCHEL, GAVIT, LARKIN, FOSTER, JENCKS, WILSCOX (?) & HUBBARD lines.. I'll be glad to look up data in it, if interested.
RI Gardiners: Amy Gard(i)ner who m Lyman Clark

Greetings. I'm seeking the names of the parents of the Amy Gard(i)ner who married Lyman Clark.

Lyman Clark was apparently born in Pawtucket Rhode Island - probably between 1790 and 1821 (his daughter Susan Clark was born in 1839). His wife was Amy Gardner (probably of the Rhode Island Gardiners) and was likely born between the later 1790s and 1821 in Kingstown, Rhode Island.

The source of this information is their daughter Susan Clark's obituary from Attleboro (Mass) Sun in 1912. There is no birth record for Susan Clark in the Rhode Island Archives (although census data shows she was born in what became North Providence, Rhode Island; the Clark homestead was apparently in Central Falls). Susan married Ephraim Hunt Tappan in 1856 and resided in Attleboro for the rest of her life. I am unaware of any siblings she might have.

Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.
