Boca Raton, Fla. - Marion Wilcox Korab Federer, 95, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side in her home in Boca Raton, Fla. Marion was a true Connecticut Yankee; descended from Thomas Wheeler, a founder of the Old Road Church, and the Stephen Wilcox branch of Wilcox Park in Westerly. She will be missed by her many friends and family in Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, and Texas.
She spent her early years in Plainfield in the old Tiffany Homestead on Rte. 12, attending the old Plainfield Academy and Plainfield High School prior to eventually embarking on a career as a social worker with the Town of Plainfield and the State of Connecticut, Norwich office.

Marion enjoyed summers at the house she and Joe built at Latimer Point in Stonington. After her retirement, to avoid the cold winters, she headed south to be with her daughter and her many friends. Marion was always proud of her family and loved to be with them. She never failed to give the current weather report when apart from them.

Marion was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph J. Korab, a "legend" at the Town Hall in Plainfield, her son, Jan W. Korab, and her husband, Charles A. Federer, founder of Sky and Telescope magazine. With Charles, she traveled extensively, discovering a world she thought she would never be able to see.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan A.K. Iler; her daughter-in-law, Lyn C. Korab; her six grandchildren, Derek J., Jared D., and Christopher J. Korab, David C. Iler, Jennifer K. Martinez, and Linisa K. Harrison; and five great-grandchildren; as well as Charlie's son, Tony and daughter, Bar, their children and grandchildren.

Memorial gifts are to be made to the First Congregational Church of Plainfield.

A celebration of her life will be held in July in Central Village.
