On Block Island/New Shoreham, now Washington County, Rhode Island, Joseph1 Kent b. abt. 1635, m. Susannah Austin George, b. Feb. 1642/43. Joseph1 had two brothers, John1 and Joshua1, and the three first settled Dedham/Braintree, where many early Block Islanders came from. Joseph1 represented Block Island at the Colony legislature in Newport in 1664, along with James Sands and Thomas Terry.
In his migrations, Joseph1 Kent is believed to have been accompanied...even preceded by his close friend, William Cahoone. Any information on Joseph1 Kent, his line, his wife's George line, or information about his life on Block Island would be greatly appreciated.
