Patrick McKenna was born about 1845 in Ireland the son of James McKenna and Bridget McElroy. He came to the US before 1860 with his mother and several siblings. In 1867 he married Margaret Burns, supposedly born in Boston, Massachusetts.

In 1860 Patrick and his family were living in North Providence; 1870 Johnston; 1880 Warren. He died in Providence in 1898. Their children were

Patrick's siblings were
James, Mary, Ann, Margaret and Ellen.
