Soldier's Orphanage in Newport Rhode Island

I am searching for an soldier's orphanage in Rhode Island in 1873. Three children were left orphaned there at that time.
Their names are: Elizabeth McChesney b 1862 Glasgow Scotland
Jeannie/Jennie McChesney b. abt 1868 in Rhode Island (no record of birth found as yet)
and Franklin Redsman McChesney b. abt 1870s

Their father and mother, Alexander and Elizabeth (Forsyth/Forsythe) McChesney lived in Glasgow Scotland, and immigrated to America in 1864. Alexander McChesney immediately (I understand from a letter by great aunt Nellie)) enlisted in the Civil War fighting for the Union side. While serving he contracted TB. Elizabeth died about 1872-73, and Alexander had 3 young children. The government advised him to put them in a soldier's orphanage. He returned to Scotland in 1873 and died there 12 weeks later.

If I can find the orphanage, I believe I can find the children and what happened to them.

Hope to hear from someone soon, Grace McChesney Boerner
