He is not listed with Everlena and
Ludley A. Chaffee at
Coventry in the 1830 US census; they are ages 60 & 54, so it is unlikely that he is their son. I can't find your younger Almont anywhere in that census, by that name. Ludley A. is actually
Lindley A., oldest son of Almont L. Chaffee born Apr 1848
MA, according to the earlier census records. He is married to Sarah A. in 1870 (with one son
Lindley A.), and in 1880 and 1900 he is married to Lydia A. (Short, md 11 Jan 1873), (with 7 more children including 5 additional sons). The family is living at Seekonk,
MA and East Providence, RI, in these censuses. In 1910 he is a widower. It seems likely that your Almont may be a grandson of the older one. One son Harvey married Agnes; in the 1920 census he has one dtr and two step children, at East Providence (I can't find them in 1930). Son Frederick married Florence, they have 8 children in the 1930 census. A son Clifford is single in 1920. Two other places to check: his death record, and the 1925 RI census.
