1733: Be it enacted by the General Assembly in this colony, and by the authority of the same it is enacted and ordered, that George Dunbar, of Newport, Esq., (who was surrogated and deputed by the late Nathaniel Byfield, deceased,) be, and he is hereby constituted and appointed judge of the court of admiralty in this colony, till His Majesty shall appoint a judge of the court of vice admiralty for this colony; or till this Assembly shall appoint another in his room and stead; and that His Honor, the Governor, commissionate him, accordingly.5
