What can I do now to find his ancestry?

Classification: Query
Surnames: Warner
I have found Jacob Warner who was born in 1803 somewhere in Pennsylvania. He married Lydia Jane Williams who was born around 1812 in New York, and they can be found with their children in the 1850 Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, Pa census.
Jacob was a blacksmith for as long as anyone knows. He was also deaf. He died in 1879 when a train ran him over by accident. He died in Nevada, Wyandot County, Ohio, and they were just beginning to require death records at that time. We have been unable to locate either a death record or an obituary record for Jacob or his wife. The train accident was covered in two local newspapers however. So perhaps his children felt that an obituary was not needed.

So now I am wondering how do I find out about his parentage? Is there a place that would help to determine who his parents were with all the Jacob Warner's out there? Is 1803 specific enough? Would knowing who and where his wife was help in narrowing the field? His headstone is no longer readable, and the cemetery sexton does not have any answers for me either.

I sure could use some guidance and directions for where to turn next. Their oldest known child was born in September of 1833, and he told his children that he was born in Knoxs, Pa but we have no clue where that would be.

If you know how to proceed from here, your help would be very appreciated. MQuiltr2@aol.com
